On April 4, 2014, a memorable Friday, Guangdong Moje Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. held a “Scientific and Technological Achievement Appraisal Conference” in Panyu, Guangzhou. This appraisal was organized by the Guangzhou Science and Technology and Information Bureau, with the participation of experts from prestigious institutions such as the Guangzhou Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Fifth Electronics Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, South China University of Technology, and Guangdong University of Technology. The focus was on evaluating and recognizing the company’s independently developed fully automatic high-speed SMT/LED series pick-and-place machines and key technologies.

The panel of experts included renowned figures such as Li Yaotang, a researcher at the Guangzhou Institute of Electronics, Hu Yueming, a professor at the School of Automation Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology, Tang Luxin, a senior engineer at Guangdong University of Technology, Zou En, a professor at South China Agricultural University, He Xiaoqi, a researcher at the Fifth Electronics Research Institute, Wang Jiaqing, an associate professor at Guangzhou University, and Zhong Huanghuang, a senior engineer at Guangzhou Semiconductor Devices Co., Ltd.

During the conference, the experts listened to a report by Mr. Cheng Zhiguo, Chief Engineer of Guangdong MOJE Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd., on the “Research on the SMT/LED High-Speed Multifunctional Fully Visual Pick-and-Place Machine Technology Based on CAN Bus Control.” They also conducted on-site inspections and, after thorough questioning and discussion, formed the following appraisal conclusions:

  1. The submitted materials met the requirements for scientific and technological achievement appraisal.
  2. The project, based on CAN bus control technology and surface mount technology (SMT), developed three fully automatic high-speed pick-and-place machines. These machines feature multiple arms and heads, capable of achieving ultra-high placement speeds ranging from 15,000 to 280,000 CPH. They also incorporate a high-efficiency dual-lane adjustable-width segmented PCB board conveyor structure, allowing dual-board placement, automatic centering for 800-1200mm boards, and support for components ranging from 0402 to 45*45mm. With a placement accuracy of ±0.03mm, the system includes a CAN bus-controlled placement controller, data acquisition module, and infeed controller, all forming an automatic control system. The use of “in-flight visual inspection” technology further enhanced placement speed.
  3. The products have passed inspections by the South China National Metrology and Testing Center and the Guangdong Quality Supervision and Inspection Station of Machinery, and have been well-received by companies such as Changhong, yielding significant social and economic benefits.
  4. The project has been granted two invention patents, eight utility model patents, and four computer software copyrights.

The appraisal committee concluded that the overall technology of the project has reached an advanced domestic level, with the automatic centering placement technology leading the nation. The committee unanimously agreed to pass the scientific and technological achievement appraisal.

The experts further noted that the key performance indicators of MOJE’s SMT pick-and-place machines are on par with or exceed those of international counterparts, filling a gap in the domestic market for vision-based pick-and-place machines and presenting strong market prospects.
